The authors dive straight into the details of using ColdFusion. A good start is made with the discussion of how to extend the Cold Fusion Markup Language [CFML] by you being able to define your own functions. Adobe made the wise choice of implementing CFML so that this is possible. Here, you can cluster functions into, what else?, libraries. The equivalent of the directory structure of a file system. We see that the existence means they can easily be shared, including of course publishing on the Internet. Readers are advised to check out cflib.org as a good prolific source of user functions. This latter website is independent of Adobe.

Unsurprisingly, since Adobe came up with PDF files, ColdFusion lets you make collections of such files, called portfolios, because PDFs often have images, and there is a clear analogy with art folios. Speaking of images, the tag introduces the ability to process images in many user defined ways. The text helps get you started with a few well chosen examples, including a CAPTCHA text to defeat robot spammers trolling your website.

Gripping throughout

My Honest Book Review: I can't begin to explain how gripping this book was. There was non-stop action and twists and turns.
Since book one, the main character Chris has come on a long way and I was seriously routing for his survival.

I love that we meet new characters in this book, each one as interesting as the last.

There's a few gut wrenching moments that seriously pull on your heart strings.
I recommend this book to zombie fans... it's not one to be missed!

A very good book, until... [[[SPOILERS]]]

This book starts so well. I thought I had finally found a story I could get involved with. The guilty boxer story is certainly not new, but the setting, and the characters made it stand out from your usual zombie fare.

I liked the relationship between father and daughter, the oppressive feeling of the English countryside, the gipsy families angle, some of the characters are well fleshed out and outside of some dissonant passages in the relationship between the father and the family that finds his hideout, I was enjoying the story.

Then the road trip. OK, I am still with you. The protagonists have to get from point A to point B. I get that, even though I found the patriarch decision to go along a bit stretched.

It's the scene after it that ruined the book for me. Suddenly we have a cast of thousands of stereotypes of the genre, and they are not well done either. Frankly, I have been unable to read further than the arena scene. It was such a let down that I had to stop reading. There was no need to introduce "The Hunger Games" in the narrative. Certainly not in the way it happens in the book. I can see a similar scene introduced in the storyline, if one must be there, but not in the way it is developed.
I know I said there would be spoilers, but still I want readers to make up their mind in that regard, so I won't go criticizing the specifics, but to me the whole thing is so over the top that it destroys the intimate story I had been reading until then.
Edit: I am still not finished, but at some point they are roaming the apocalyptic landscaper and they stop at a McDonald's for burgers. I don't want to go into a pedantic discussion on supply chain issues, but in the book itself it was established that money had no value anymore. They are surrounded by Zombies. They just left behind crazy people involved in slave trade, mass murder, tyranny and a few other crimes.
Yet they manage to buy burgers at a McDonald's. No explanation given. No one is surprised. The burgers don't cost the equivalent of a $1000 each (ketchup not included). What kind of zombie apocalypse is this?
It's like the author suddenly said, "Screw it, I am tired of this story, let's just hurry to the end".
I know I read the first book of this series at some point. The second book either hadn't come out yet or I found it as objectionable as this one.
Yet, the first part of the book is quite well done and well written. Such a pity.

In this book we present a largely biochemical look at the metals of life and their functions, which we hope will be of interest to chemists and biologists as well as biochemists. The field of 'inorganic bio­ chemistry' is one of rapid change. Recent developments in our know­ ledge of the activity of calcium, and of the iron-sulphur proteins, are two examples, and increasing attention is being paid to non-metals as well [3]. For reasons of space, we shall restrict ourselves to the normal biological activities of metals. We must ignore, on the one hand, the gross physiological effects of metal deficiency or toxicity, and on the other, the many model studies which have been stimulated by the unusual properties of metals in biological systems. Usually the synthesis of model metal compounds follows rather than anticipates the dis­ covery of novel biological configurations. However, such studies give us a firm basis for an understanding of the biological systems, and sometimes answer questions that cannot be tackled any other way (for instance, what is the net charge on an iron-sulphur cluster?). As a result, we can refer to new and interesting information on the metals oflife at a chemical level. We gratefully acknowledge the help of Professor P. Banks and Dr D. Fenton who have read and criticized the manuscript, though any errors or misconceptions remain our own responsibility. We thank Mr P. Elliot for preparing Fig. 5.2.

Great Read

What do you get with secrets, infidelity, suicide attempts, divorce, and custody battles? A humorous novella written by Thomas Chimera. This entertaining book proves that when life hands you lemons, you can definitely make lemonade with the right determination, and of course a great sense of humor. I look forward to reading more..., keep them coming.

Couldn't put it down for a second

I was kind of strong armed by a co-worker who knows the author into reading "My Dad the Little League Coach" and all I can is wow! By the first page on through to the very last paragraph I really and truly couldn't put this little book down. While the author may not rival the prose of Proust he is indeed the rarest of wordsmith's who tells a sometimes tragic story in a way that lifts the soul and makes you actually laugh completely and unabashedly outloud. If you think this is a story about baseball you'd be way off track. This is a comedic work of art wrapped around doing the right thing in less than perfect ways.

I was fortunate enough to be on the initial review team for "My Dad the Little League Coach" so I hope my thoughts are not at all biased. Of the twenty-two books I've reviewed this year alone, never have I come across a more gifted and brilliant story teller than Chimera. If ever there could be a sequel to Salinger's "Catcher in the Rye" with all the twists and turns of a David Lynch film, this is it.

Rare, useful thinking resource

I'm writing this review as a response to the previous review, which misses the point of the quality of the book while judging the moral premise. I was recommended this book by the sharpest and clearest thinker I know, MR. It was worth the read and few other books have affected my own personal thinking as profoundly as Diaminds. On many occasions I have recommended this book to others.

The idea behind the book is how you can improve your own thinking ability by thinking about how you think. If I used forms of the word 'think' too many times in the previous sentence, you'll forgive me.

What's really useful about this book is that Mr. Moldoveanu gives you 1) useful thinking tools to understand why your own thinking may be limited as well as 2) experiments and tools to put them to use. While I agree there could be moral issues with 'playing' with your friends as the author suggests, finding other ways to 'practice' your thinking and prediction abilities is difficult. Seeing the world dispassionately and as an experiment is the surest way to improve your own mental processes, as long as you keep in mind that it is a 'mode' or 'zone' of thought that should be entered only temporarily, lest you forget that the 'thinking/aalysis' mode is one of only many useful and fulfilling ones your brain has.

Finally, I still use the Usain Bolt example from the beginning of the book as a way to illustrate the value of solid thinking and many of the experiments the author suggests.

In short, this book isn't always fun to read, nor is it particularly easy, but for those who want to improve their System II (as Kahneman would call it) thinking abilities, there is no other book I have encountered that will provide better results.

The authors explore the dynamic, multi-tiered processes that often result in extraordinary conceptual breakthroughs-- yet which often appear to be chaos or mere noise to the ordinary. How could Steve Jobs simultaneously be obsessed with arcane details of fonts and inner circuitry while also developing a understanding of market needs that exceeded those customers' consciousness at the time? A start in the exploration of those who actually DO 'out-think'.

Everything I ever hoped for and more!

I stalked the ups driver, I counted the days, I checked my email daily and when it finally arrived I tried to consume all the delicious information in one day but alas, it is so packed full of information, instruction and beautiful art I had to slow down and savor it.

If you are looking for a beautifully illustrated, marvelously written book on the art of lettering this is the one! I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am to complete each and every challenge. Joanne Sharpe has written a book that will help be become a better artist but also has me asking myself the hard questions. Questions like why I do this, am I willing to put the work into this art form and how I will use the knowledge once it is mine. I

I cannot recommend this highly enough...not enough stars and not enough praise for Joanne Sharpe.

Buy the actual book with binding

I bought this book knowing it was loose-leaf, which I thought would be beneficial such that I could take certain chapters with me to class. However, it was a mess when it came to studying and referring to certain sections of the book, papers out of order, etc. So, if you're a student, the money saved is not worth the grief, in my opinion. Get the regular textbook.

Well....you have to read it!

Hot romance in every way possible. There's a few typos but well worth the read. There's two stories in one and only the first is a mfmm story. You start out with Cassandra who is trapped in a situation she knows nothing about, to make matters worse she falls into a to good to be true romance. If you like suspense and steamy hot sex, this is the story. The second story, you meet Chelsea who is a teenager who falls for an older man. Let me just say you've got to read it to believe it. Madison Faye you've got a new reader, because if this is your alter ego, wow! New power to the almighty alter ego.

A menage with scorching well-written scenes and a slave ring to break up. Well written, and we get a fine HEA!

This was one steaming sexy read! There were kidnappings and a sex for sale ring, A sleasy step-father. But at the end we get our HEA for our heroine, Cassandra and her loves: Zane, Foster, and Gareth.

Cassandra, is stressed by too much work and time constraints, but decides to go on an island vacation with her mom and her unlikeable step-father. She decides to have an evening of just having fun and goes to find the dancing and music down further on the beach. There she meets the tall, well muscled, gorgeous duo of Foster and Zane. After several drinks, she decides to throw caution away on the breezes and invites them back to her private bungalo on the beach. Some really hot sexy scenes, WHEW! YEAH!

The next night Cassandra, or Cassie once again tries to reconnect with the fabulous duo, but finds that they have been called away on business when another just as hot, huge, and gorgeous guy approaches them while they are dancing. They leave her with their friend, Gareth. Gareth and Cassie also hit it off really well and a night of scorching sex ensues.

That night Cassie is abducted and things go from bad to really bad for this pampered miss. The three guys are used to taking orders from a boss, but nothing that involves kidnapping and slave auctions. They try to keep her distracted and as comfortable as possible under these extreme circumstances (including more Hot SEX).

The guys are found out and she is put on the auction block and sold. Exciting, but it all works out in the end with a satisfactory HEA! If you like menages and lots of creative and hot SEX, you'll love this story.

3 short totally mind blowing stories all in one. The first one holy wow with the hotness, 3 guys one girl awesome. The second one builds up to a nice risky professor /student relationship that just makes you totally jealous and the third mind bowing hot older neighbor with the younger girl next door. All I can say is this book is hot and if you like hotness you got read this ! Short and directly to the point ,full of steamy passion stories that keep you hooked!

In one of my past incarnations,I was a deckhand on one of the tugs mentioned in your book,the Baleen.I not only was a crewmen on the Baleen,I was on her when she went down.Having spent a good portion of my life on tugs,I found this book to be an inciteful look into the world of tugs and towing.A must for all lovers of the sea and tugboats in particular.
